RT-3020S/RT-3020M RTK Survey Sensor/RTK Machine Control Sensor

NavCom's RT-3020S and RT-3020M models are a new generation of RTK GPS receivers delivering cost-effectiveness and high performance. They offer the highest level of accuracy and response from a dual-frequency GPS instrument. The RT-3020S is designed for backpack survey and GIS applications. The RT-3020M is designed for any guidance or machine control application with instantaneous centimeter-level positioning.

Applications

The RT-3020S is packaged for mobility. It can be used for construction stakeout, boundary surveys, high order control surveys and topographic surveys in rough terrain. The sensor can be carried in a backpack with the antenna either pole-mounted from the backpack or on a survey pole with a single cable connection. Portable, rechargeable batteries allow for a full day's operation.

The RT-3020M is a real-time kinematic (RTK) sensor specifically designed for machine control applications in construction, agriculture, mining and many other fields. Based on the same architecture as the RT-3010S, it is equipped with additional features allowing interconnectivity with a wide variety of antennas, vehicle data buses and other instrumentation to suit specific applications and configurations. Dynamic platforms require virtually instantaneous position reports multiple times per second. The RT-3020M delivers position updates computed at up to 25 Hz with less than 20ms latency. The horizontal accuracy of 1 cm or better and the vertical accuracy of 2 cm or better are maintained as each output is independently calculated based on an actual GPS position measurement, as opposed to an extrapolation between 1Hz measurements.

Benefits

The RT-3020 series is setting a new benchmark for GPS receiver technology including the use of WAAS/EGNOS. The receivers use our NCT-2000D GPS engine, which incorporates the next generation of interference suppression, multipath mitigation, and measurement accuracy. With a signal-to-noise ratio advantage over competing technology, the user benefits from improved real-time positioning with instantaneous centimeter-level accuracy.

The RTK software provides fast initialization. Testing shows that the system resolves ambiguities at start-up or on reacquisition of satellites within one GPS epoch (one second) 82% of the time and within two epochs 90% of the time.

The RT-3020 series' built-in spread spectrum radio gives an immediate solution for the system integrator. The radio enables communication between the base station and rover and allows the user to remotely control the other unit. Utilizing the built in radio for RTK measurements, the receivers communicate using NavCom's highly efficient proprietary RTK format or other RTK formats, such as RTCM and CMR. Additionally, the receivers simultaneously accept corrections for DGPS (WAAS/EGNOS) assuring seamless position output.

Flexible Interface

The RT-3020 receivers are easily configured by the Windows®-based utility program included with the instrument.

Alternatively, the receiver offers an open binary user interface designed to provide maximum flexibility for system integrators. Through this interface, the integrator can provide complete command and control of the GPS receiver and radio modem, which enables the user to customize the interface and select operation modes as desired.
